Carlos Santos holds a Ph.D. degree in Regional Science – University of Pennsylvania, USA. He has been a Full Professor in Economics at the University of the Azores (Portugal) having taught several courses such as: International Tourism Economics, Managerial Economics, Tourism and Development, and Economics of Tourism Firms. He is a researcher of the University of the Azores’ Research Center of Applied Economic Studies of the Atlantic (CEAAplA) since 2003.
He has been a Visiting Professor at Taylors University (Malaysia). He also has been a visiting Professor at the Toulouse Capitole University (Toulouse, France) and he lectured at the Kedge Business School in Bordeaux (France).
He is the author of several scientific papers and articles published in tourism scientific journals such as: Ocean and Coastal Management, Tourism Economics, Annals of Tourism Research, Tourism and Hospitality Research, World Review of Entrepreneurship, Management and Sustainable Development, Tourism Research International, Sustainability, Tourism Management, among others and published various articles on tourism in the press.
He is CEO and Chairman of the Azores Tourism Observatory (OTA) and he is a senior tourism advisor for the Regional Secretary for Tourism, Mobility and Infrastructures of the Regional Government of the Azores, Portugal.
