Gualter Couto holds a BSc in Business Management from the Universidade dos Açores, awarded in 1995. He earned his MSc in Business Management/MBA from the Instituto Superior de Economia e Gestão from the Universidade de Lisboa in 1999, followed by a PhD in Management/Finance from the same institution in 2006.
Since 1996, he has been serving as a Finance Professor at the School of Business and Economics at the Universidade dos Açores. Additionally, he has been an active researcher at the Center of Applied Economic Studies of the Atlantic since 2003. His expertise lies in corporate finance, and he previously held the position of Director of the Master in Business Administration program at the Universidade dos Açores. He imparts knowledge in corporate finance, financial management, and investments to both undergraduate (BSc) and postgraduate (MSc) students.
Gualter Couto is also recognized as a co-author of numerous research papers published in international peer-reviewed journals. He has presented his research at various academic conferences worldwide, with a primary focus on real options, capital markets, and investment valuation. Furthermore, he has co-authored eight books in his field. His contributions extend to coordinating various cost/benefit analyses and strategic planning projects related to structural investments and tourism analysis in Portugal.
