Áurea Sousa holds a PhD in Mathematics, in the specialty of Probabilities and Statistics, from the University of the Azores (2006); a master’s degree in Statistics and Information Management, from Universidade Nova de Lisboa (1997); and a degree in Mathematics from the University of the Azores (1992). She has taught at the University of the Azores since 1992 is a researcher at the Center of Applied Economic Studies of the Atlantic (CEEAplA), since 2011, and is a collaborating researcher of Outermost Regions Sustainable Ecosystem for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (OSEAN), since 2022. Her primary research interests are Multivariate Data Analysis, Probability and Statistics, Symbolic Data Analysis (SDA), Computational Statistics, and Information Management. She has presented national and international communications, and has several scientific publications (articles, chapters, and books). Currently, she is a member of the Scientific Council of some journals (e3 – Journal of Economics, Business, and Entrepreneurs in CPLP; International Journal of Cultural Management: Science and Education; Journal of Entrepreneurial Researchers). She is also editor-in-chief of e3-Revista de Economia, Empresas e Empreendedores at CPLP, since 2021.
