Composition of the Bodies

João Pedro Couto is a Full Professor at the University of the Azores, Ph.D. in International Business, and has an MBA from the University of Porto. He teaches strategic management courses and is a Research Fellow at the Center of Applied Economic Studies of the Atlantic – University of the Azores and Advance/CSG, ISEG – Lisbon University.
Aggregated in Economic and Business Sciences (2007), by the University of the Azores, he holds a PhD in Economics and Business Sciences (2000), by the University of the Azores, a Master in MBA (1994), by the University of Porto, and a Degree in Business Management (1991), by the University of the Azores.
He held the positions of President of the School of Business and Economics, Director of the Department of Management, Coordinator of the Doctorate in Economic and Business Sciences and of the MBA of the University of the Azores.
His main research interests include strategic management, innovation, sustainability, and tourism. He published 54 articles in specialized journals, namely Business Horizons, Journal of Business and Economic Management, Tourism Management, Environmental Research, Multinational Business Review, among others. He wrote 3 book chapters and 3 books, organized 4 scientific events, supervised 8 doctoral theses and co-supervised 5, supervised 45 master’s theses and co-supervised 3. He received 5 awards, participated as researcher in 2 R&D projects and was the Responsible Researcher in 1 project. In his professional activities, he interacted with 117 collaborators in co-authorship of scientific works. In his curriculum, the most frequent terms in the context of scientific production are: Strategic Management, Innovation, International Business, Entrepreneurship, and Tourism. He currently is doing research in strategic management, innovation, sustainability, and sports tourism.
