Candidates Profile
1. May apply those who are holders of a Ph.D in Management or Economics, with specialization in CGE Models.
2. May apply national citizens and foreign candidates.
Project
1. The project Computable General Equilibrium Models for the Azorean Economy aims the following:
• To deepen the development of economic, social and environmental policies analysis methodologies, endowing the authorities and the scientific bodies of an important instrument of quantitative evaluation regarding the several political consequences.
• To undertake new advances in this area, at three levels: 1 – improvements of the current social accounting matrix; 2-extension of the current matrix to include new information that allows for new analyses (environment, for example); 3-construct a CGE model for Portugal.
• To expand the SAM to include the characterization of the environmental resources of the Azores and of the impact of environmental policies, developing a new model for this purpose.
• To develop a CGE model for Portugal, similar to the one that has been developed for the Azores. This part of the project will permit comparisons between to policies between the Azorean and the national economy.
2. Works will be developed at at CEEAplA – Centre of Applied Economic Studies of the Atlantic -University of Azores, S. Miguel Island, Azores, Portugal coordinated by Professor Mário Fortuna (fortuna@uac.pt).
